Care Program

Our care program is individualised for every Resident after a comprehensive assessment by our Social Worker. This assessment covers their intellectual ability, practical skills, ability to communicate, physical ability and personal interests. Based on this information, Residents are given the opportunity to work, socialise, play and develop into individuals capable of reaching their full potential.

To improve Development and Inclusion Residents are given the responsibilities, under supervision, of general housekeeping, kitchen duties, general maintenance of the farm and gardening. In addition, Cluny Farm has various work opportunities to assist Residents reach their personal growth goals and assist the Centre achieve a certain degree of self-sufficiency.

These include:

  • Cookie Bakery – This project involves daily production of a range of delicious home baked biscuits that are then packaged and sold to individuals and businesses. The Residents are involved in every process under supervision of a staff member.
  • Jan and Condiment Project – Our Kitchen supervisor oversees the production and bottling of items including jams, chutney and preserves by the Residents that are sold to the public.
  • Organic Vegetable Project – Cluny Farm has two 60 metre tunnels which have been utilised for the past four years to produce organic vegetables for both internal consumption and sale at Markets and to individuals and businesses. The Residents involved are supervised and assisted by experienced Agricultural experts to ensure the best product outcome.
  • Assembly Contract Work – Cluny Farm has been fortunate to acquire contracts from various Businesses to do basic assembly work. The Centre is paid for completing these contracts. The Residents are supervised by our Development Officer.

All of these Projects provide our Residents with a sense of pride and ownership of the Farm through the knowledge that they are contributing financially to their own home and future security.

Residents are able to draw down from the stipend they receive from their Disability Grant that enables them to purchase personal items from home-based tuck shop and from outside stores.

From October 31st, 2021, Cluny Farm will have a permanent stall at a newly developed Community Market, providing further opportunities to sell our products.
